Missouri’s First Neuro Transitional Center Opens, Pioneering Care for Neurological Recovery

Select Medical marked the opening of the SSM Health Neuro Transitional Center (NTC) in O’Fallon, Missouri on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The 12-bed, all-private-room facility is the first of its kind in the state and the fourth Select Medical NTC, joining two Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation NTCs in Dallas as well as the OhioHealth NTC in Dublin, Ohio.

NTCs are a new neuro rehabilitation model that fill the care gap that exists for patients with neurological conditions transitioning from intensive inpatient rehabilitation back to their homes. The NTC provides provides intensive therapy with 24/7 medical oversight in a structured, supported home-like setting. The NTC’s goal is to maximize reduction of disability, prevent re-hospitalization and medical complications, and restore independent living skills to function in the home and community safely.

The SSM Health NTC is poised to admit its first patient in March.
