SSM Health Rehabilitation Hospital – Bridgeton Welcomes New Facility Dog

Duo Dog Kia, an English Labrador, officially began dispensing his brand of healing affection to patients and guests as he and his handler made their rounds at SSM Health Rehabilitation Hospital – Bridgeton. Duo Dog Kia stepped into his role November 21 as the first canine member of the hospital team after nearly 19 months of rigorous training by St. Louis-based nonprofit Duo Dogs.

The hospital continuously looks for innovative methods to foster a positive healing environment.  “We know the physical and emotional benefits Duo Dog Kia will bring to our patients and we are grateful to have such wonderful partners at Duo Dogs who prepared him for his important new role,” said John Grubbs, CEO, SSM Health Rehabilitation Hospital – Bridgeton.
